Scheme To Install System of Tracking Criminals, Terrorists

It is true that there are more dangers looming large over the country's internal security than those over the border of the country. The challenges of internal security are entirely different and it is not that easy to tackle them. Home Minister P. Chidambaram has admitted that we are technically somewhat weak in the war against terror and it is not good to lose the war because of it. Chidambaram also instructed officials of the Home Ministry to put an efficient system in place to keep close watch on terrorists and criminals.

The Responsibility
A most modern system would be created for it, which would cost Rs. 20 billion. Developing the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems would provide all such information that would make it comparatively easy to deal with terrorists and criminals. The responsibility for it has been handed over to the National Criminal Records Bureau.
The Home Ministry perhaps does not have the answer as to why there was so much delay in developing this system. We have been suffering from the sting of terrorism for a long time. Terrorists and criminals are carrying out their intentions using the latest technology, and the people of this country also want to know why we have lagged behind so much in this era of technology.

Making System Foolproof
The instruction of Chidambaram should certainly have effect on Home Ministry officials. A time period of two years has been given to develop the new system. We would have to complete it within the time frame. This task is difficult and full of challenges.

Chidambaram believes that if it is done with dedication, firm will, and complete control, it could be completed in time. Suggestions have been invited from within the government machinery and outside to make the system foolproof, which is commendable. In fact, terrorists and criminals armed with latest weapons and technology are a big challenge to the country. We would have to be strong and capable at all levels to deal with them.
