UN Resolution on Terrorists, Organizations

The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) has unanimously adopted two resolutions under which terrorists and organizations associated with Al-Qaida and the Taliban would be split into two separate lists. There was one committee in the UNSC for sanctions against Taliban and Al-Qaida. However, it has now been decided unanimously to deal with Taliban and Al-Qaida separately.
After the adoption of two resolutions, international powers led by the United States have said they view that Taliban and Al-Qaida have different targets. In the words of western diplomats, Taliban are waging resistance only in Afghanistan while Al-Qaida has an international agenda. The head of UNSC Counter-Terrorism Committee and the German ambassador has said that the adoption of the resolutions is a clear and strong message that we are supporting the Afghan government to end violence and advance the process of reconciliation for peace in Afghanistan.
Possibility of US-Taliban Talks
Soon after the adoption of the resolutions by the UNSC, Afghan President Hamid Karzai addressing a press conference in Kabul disclosed that several international powers including, the United States, are engaged in talks with the Taliban. Earlier, different diplomatic circles reported several times that negotiations were underway between the Afghan government and Taliban. However, it is for the first time that Afghan President has officially confirmed talks with Taliban adding that the United States itself is engaged in talks. After disclosure by the Afghan President, the US Embassy has refused to confirm or deny talks with Taliban. However, Taliban spokesperson Zabiullah Mujahid has strongly denied talks with the United States and European countries. Mujahid telephoned to the French news agency, AFP, from an unknown place and denied the disclosure made by Afghan President. He said that the Taliban have in the past denied such reports.
We do not know as to why Karzai has made this disclosure. Whether or nor the United States or western countries are holding direct or indirect talks with Afghan Taliban, it has become clear that now the United States has compelled to beg to the Taliban for talks. A major hurdle in the way of talks between United States and Taliban were the resolutions under which it has declared Taliban and Al-Qaida terrorists. Following adoption of the resolutions by the UNSC, names of some wanted Taliban leaders would be removed from the list as the resolution allows the Afghan government to make changes in the list. However, they will be approved by the UNSC.
Afghan War Strategy
The split of Al-Qaida and Taliban in the list of terrorists by the UNSC indicates difference over strategy between the United States and Europe regarding Afghanistan war. After passage of the resolution (resolutions) British Foreign Office Minister, Alistair Burt has said that with a view to grasp the situation, US contacts with Taliban are in line with the thinking of the international community and Afghan people as well as the government. Commenting on reports of contacts between the United States and Taliban, he said that he had always supported reconciliation with resistance elements in Afghanistan and their joining to the national mainstream on the conditions of Afghanistan government. The conditions of the Afghan government include, abandoning of violence, severing contacts with terrorist organizations and acceptance of the constitution. The fresh contacts, which have been confirmed by Afghan President Karzai is a step towards the destination to which, the situation will at last lead.
It is known to all that establishment of peace does not depend on only military success and training of Afghan army and police rather it will be on a political settlement. The statement of an important official of British Foreign Office about the United States' negotiations with Taliban shows the fact that differences have developed between the United States and Europe over Afghan war strategy.
Differences between the US political and military leadership with regards to (Afghanistan) wa r have become clear. On the one hand, US President Barack Obama has announced to begin US military withdrawal from July 2011. The US military leadership holds the viewpoint that Taliban cannot be brought to the negotiations table without crushing their resistance. The time is passing and the Afghan war is ten years old. If the US military with the help of 40 countries has not succeeded to crush Taliban's resistance during the past 10 years, as to how it will do so during the next few months.
Status of Taliban
The United States through the UNSC resolution has allured Taliban to weaken their resistance and divide the Mujahidin. The western diplomatic circles raise the questions (question) as to what is the status of those Taliban in the ranks of Taliban to whom the United States is holding talks. The United States and international western powers through the latest UNSC resolution have at least admitted that war going on in the name of elimination of terrorism is based on falsehood and deception. A question has also arisen about the legal and moral credibility of the UN resolutions. The law changes when their expediencies change. They declare terrorists to someone and remove someone from the list of terrorists on their own sweet will.
The peace cannot come to the world when the international law will be made on the basis of reposts of secret agency, the CIA without giving any evidence. Ten years ago, the United States had resorted to brutal military adventurism (in Afghanistan) by declaring Al-Qaida responsible for 9/11 and Taliban as their supporter. During these 10 years, hundreds of thousands of Afghans were killed and lethal weapons on a large scale were tested on poor Afghans. Chemical, nuclear and biological weapons were also used in Afghanistan because of which disabled and ill children are being born there.
Legislation Against Terrorism
The legislation against terrorism had started even before 9/11. The United States has forcibly imposed its laws on the entire world through the United Nations. These laws are the worst case of trampling of human rights. The United States continued to present Afghanistan and Taliban as a threat to the world for 10 years although the Afghans were fighting US attack as they fought the Soviet Union. At that time, Mujahidin had come to Afghanistan from the entire world.
The United States under its anti-humane agenda declared international impact of Afghan Mujahidin's success over Soviet Union as terrorism. The United States had got conducted inhuman and unjust legislation from the United Nations before the 9/11 in the name of terrorism. Terrorism is a crime whose definition could not be made until today. The war was the continuation of the new world order whose, one aspect is globalization. However, today the US and western pride has been trampled in the mountains of Afghanistan.

Is US Establishing Peace or Promoting Terrorism Worldwide?

It is said that the United States has never wanted peace in the world. Every country of the world is compelled to obey the United States out of fear. After the disintegration of the Soviet Union, the United States got the title of 'sole superpower.' International community should make the United States understand that elimination of terrorism is necessary but regretfully Americans do not want to end the causes of terrorism?
Fighting War After War
The United States appears to be standing behind every war since the World War. More than 2 million Koreans were killed in the Korean war from 1949 to 1953. When the Vietnam war was fought in the next decade, more than 4.1 million Vietnamese were killed from 1959 to 1975. These include the citizens of North Vietnam, South Vietnam, and Cambodia. The confrontation was still on when the Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan in December 1979 and 1.3 million Afghans were killed. Then, the flames of Gulf war engulfed the entire region. Thousands of Iraqi children died a helpless death. Thousands of people craved for medicines in hospitals and severe food shortage emerged. The world was still recovering from this shock when the United States landed its troops in Afghanistan. United States invaded the resource-rich country to hunt down Usama Bin Ladin. Later, Iraq was also ruined and the United States claimed that Iraq had chemical weapons. Similarly, Kashmir issue remains unresolved until today in spite of having been recognized at international level. Many other devastations of this nature hit the world over the past eight decades but most of them were related to natural calamities. If matters are closely observed, it would appear that the United States is behind all these devastations and wars in one way or another. The United States launches wars under one pretext or the other and then devastation becomes the fate of the country where it enters. The United States is, at present, the largest arms supplying country. The United States sold weapons worth $800 million in 2007, whereas its own defense budget is over $700 million.
US intellectual Noam Chomsky has been drawing the world attention to this since long. According to him, the United States is assuming the role of an international rascal. On one hand, the United States is raising the attractive slogan of the 'war on terror,' and on the other, it has assumed the role of the greatest terrorist. Moreover, the United States is pursuing the communist ideology of telling lie and then standing firm in it.
Noam Chomsky considers the United States an international terrorist country in this situation. If we take stock of the international situation after 1990, we will be compelled to believe in what Noam Chomsky says. The way in which the United States made unjust intervention into different countries clearly proves that it is following the policy of imperialism.
Middle East Peace Process
The greatest responsibility lies on the United States if peace could not be established in the Middle East until today. The United States openly supported the Jewish Israel. The United States supports atrocities being committed against the unarmed Palestinians. If Israel makes the lives of Palestinians miserable in flagrant violation of the UN resolution, the United States recklessly uses its veto in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to support it (Israel). Thousands of Palestinians have been living in refugee camps in inhuman conditions since 1948. Not only this, Israel massacres innocent Palestinians even in the refugee camps. The killing in the camps of Sabra and Shatila is a clear instance in this regard. Ever since the establishment of Israel, the United States used it like a police personnel in the Middle East and did so for the accomplishment of its agenda and to ensure protection of its national interests, particularly the oil supply. Even the United States declared the recent Israeli excesses just that it committed in the form of attack on Lebanon. The United States did not condemn the killing of hundreds of Lebanese citizens and recklessly used its unjust right in the UNSC in support of Israel. As a result, the war continued for approximately 40 days and scores of human lives were lost. The United States set up a puppet regime in Iraq to seize the country's oil reserves. Moreover, the potential threat that Jewish Israel could have faced from a powerful Muslim country (Iraq) has been eliminated. Having tightened Iraq into its clutches, the United States wants to fully focus on Iran, which aspires to acquire nuclear power. It is obvious from the problems that the United States had to face in Iraq regarding Iran, that it will not launch such an attack on Iran.
Intervention Into Afghanistan
The US intervention into Afghanistan is approximately 25-year-old and its consequences are before us. Despite all of their drawbacks, the Taliban had succeeded in establishing a stable government in Afghanistan, but the United States made hundreds of Afghan target of its bombing on the basis of suspicion and pushed the country back into the Stone Age and established a puppet regime there.
The prevailing situation in Afghanistan is such that innocent people are being killed every other day and the US brutality has crossed all limits.
Antihumanity Measures
When the Islamists set up a stable government in Somalia, which had plunged into civil war and peace started to return to the country, the United States attacked Somalia with the help of Christian Ethiopia. The United States annihilated approximately four Somali villages in the very first attack. The civil war has been going on there ever since.
The man of the contemporary world is fed up of these US antihumanity measures. Smaller and weak countries have started considering it 'superpower' to remain safe from its mischief. It is necessary to reign in the US aggression if the terrorism is to be eliminated because it is promoting terrorism.

US Unnecessary Concerns Over Iranian Nuclear Program

In his telephone conversation with Turkish Prime Minister Ragheb Tayyip Erdogan, US President Barack Obama has said that Iran's recent steps would not help in improving mutual trust. Efforts will be continued for imposing new sanctions against Iran.
During his talk with Erdogan, Obama acknowledged Turkey and Brazil's efforts for reaching an agreement under which Iran agreed to send half of its low-enriched uranium to Turkey for conversion into nuclear fuel. However, the US president maintained that the international community does have concerns over Iran's overall nuclear program.

Proposed UN Sanctions
Meanwhile, Iran while rejecting the proposed UN sanctions against it stated that they would not make any effect on it, but would further strain its relations with the United States. Iran's agreement with Turkey and Brazil regarding conversion of uranium into nuclear fuel has also been presented to the UN Security Council.

President Obama's statements suggest that the United States is not willing to show any flexibility in spite of Teheran's soft attitude on its nuclear material, and Washington continues the practice of making demands to Teheran. Thus, it is apprehended that Iran too can withdraw from its flexible attitude after issuance of such statements by the US president, which will again make the issue more critical.

The US Administration should now realize that the way it wants to change the world always created problems in the past, and it is again now becoming a cause of creating new problems. Particularly, its attitude towards Iran is beyond one's ken.

The United States describes Iran's program as a threat to the region as well as the entire world, However, it is not noticing the aggressive activities and expansionist designs of Israel in the same region. Until today, Iran has not occupied any other country's areas. However, the entire world knows about Israel that it occupied Palestinian areas, is making a continuous expansion, while the Palestinian areas are becoming limited.

Israel's Violent Activities
Israel's violent activities continue. On 20 May also, Israeli Army assaulted Palestinian women and children in Janine city of the occupied West Bank. Such activities continue for the last 60 years. But, perhaps the United States, its allies and the supporter countries do not see it as they always keep the direction of the cannons of their statements toward Iran.

Since Iran's agreement with Turkey and Brazil regarding nuclear fuel has been presented to the UN Security Council, it is needed that this institute, which is a guarantor of world peace, should be let free to take an independent decision. The United States and its allied countries should avoid influencing it, as it can mar any improving situation.
